HerCanberra Home Story Feature

We’re proud to announce that one of our knockdown rebuild projects was recently featured in HerCanberra’s iconic Home Story series.

Here at Blackett Homes, we pride ourselves on the quality of our work, our family values, and our deep passion for building dream homes within the Canberra community. This is reflected through each project we undertake, and Patey Street in Campbell was no exception. Not only were we able to knock down a traditional three-bedroom house but we were given the opportunity to rebuild a Mornington Peninsula-inspired family home to last for many years to come.

Written by Ashley Feraude and photographed by Cass Atkinson, Caitrin Dunn takes us through her “new family home that wasn’t just built by an all-star cast of local talent – but even keeps itself clean.”

“Caitrin and her husband bought the late 1950s home in 2011 when they moved to the ACT for work. The home was a lovely traditional three-bedroom house common in these inner parts of Canberra.”

“It had a lot of charm and a great view of Mount Ainslie, so the couple kept renovating to adjust to their growing family. However, after seven years it became apparent that with the family expanding to four, they needed to seriously expand. However, no matter how they planned the extension, it became obvious that the most sensible option was to knock down and rebuild.”

“Caitrin and her husband presented the team with a dream home vision based on a home they fell in love with on the Mornington Peninsula. At the end, what they delivered was exceptionally close.”
